The 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe and Chevrolet Volt lead the way with design and innovation awards
Highlighting GM's commitment to quality, design and innovation, the 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe and Chevrolet Volt have received awards for design and technical innovation respectively by Popular Mechanics magazine, a leading U.S. based motoring publication. As a highly regarded magazine within the automotive industry, recognitions by the publication serve as a strong indicator of GM's efforts in creating well designed, innovative and technologically advanced vehicles.
The award for design is strongly in line with the CTS Coupe philosophy. Following its successful launch, held in Beirut in September, the 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe has been leading the way as Cadillac's most dramatic expression of Arts & Science. Having emerged as a proposal inside Cadillac's dedicated design studio, the CTS Coupe is set to be the new focal point of the Cadillac family. Touch pad door entry and signature Cadillac exterior and interior features have made this car the latest and most dramatic of the brand's series of new designs to reach production.
As recipient of the technical innovation award, the 2011 Chevrolet Volt redefines electric drive as the world's first mass-produced, plug-in electric vehicle with a range-extending onboard engine. The revolutionary Voltec propulsion system delivers between 40 and 80 kilometres of electric driving (depending on terrain, driving techniques and temperature) with a long-life, 16-kW lithium-ion battery and 111-kW (149-hp) electric drive unit; and up to 500 kilometres of extended range with an onboard 1.4L engine
As award winning cars, GM brands set the precedent in the automotive industry, paving the way for innovative features and designs while maintain the highest level of quality and safety.

It was purchased in 1909 by General Motors and within six years, Cadillac laid the foundation for the modern mass production of automobiles by demonstrating the complete interchangeability of its precision parts, also establishing itself as America's premier luxury car.
