The Effluent Treatment Plant project is designed to optimise the management of a water processing system aimed at achieving zero liquid discharge into the natural environment
Al Jaber & Partners (AJP), one of Qatar’s leading Infrastructure and Energy contractors with one of the country’s largest construction equipment and vehicle fleet, has been awarded the highest safety record to date by Shell for 19 million hours incident and accident free.
Eng Ammar Ammar, Business Development Manager for Al Jaber & Partners, said: “We are delighted to receive the Award from Shell for 19 million hours without incident and are proud of such an admirable safety record and achieving near completion of this project with zero LTI. This is indeed a massive project and we are known for providing complete construction solutions to very high quality standards for substantial development projects worth as much as QR1.9 billion. With a capacity to treat 280,000 barrels of water a day, this water treatment plant is comparable to a plant for a town of 140,000 people.”
As this was one of AJP’s most significant construction projects, the company was dedicated to ensuring it was built without any safety incidents.
Eng Ammar Ammar added: “Safety is part of how we do business. It provides us with a permit to operate. In addition, the project needed to run smoothly, be delivered on time, to budget and to the highest quality standards. This is our company’s modus operandi, always aiming for the very best for our clients.”
The Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) project is designed, constructed and commissioned to optimise the management of a water processing system aimed at achieving zero liquid discharge into the natural environment. Thus, the plant is dedicated to the treatment and recycling of industrial effluents from this massive industrial complex.
As part of a Joint Venture with OTV and Saipem of France, AJP’s total share for this project is worth QR 735,000,000 for the full civil and structural work, mechanical steel tank and equipment and piping installation works. The jobsite manpower for the project is approximately 1,500. Upon completion after some 42 months, the ETP will be the world’s largest for the recovery, treatment and re-use of industrial process water.
The Pearl Shell GTL Project is currently the single largest investment by Shell with a value of US$ 18 billion and is jointly owned by Qatar Petroleum and Shell. The project includes the development of offshore natural gas resources in the Qatar North Field. It comprises the development of upstream gas production facilities and on onshore GTL plant that will produce 140,000 barrels per day of GTL products and approximately 120,000 barrels per day of condensate, liquefied petroleum gas and ethane. When completed, it should be the world’s largest integrated GTL complex.
