American Express Middle East won the award for the “Best Corporate Card” in the Middle East at the annual Smart Card Awards Middle East. Mazin Khoury, Chief Operating Officer, American Express MENA region, received the award at a glittering award ceremony in Abu Dhabi, held alongside Cards Middle East, the largest cards and payment event in the region.
The annual Smart Card Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of retail banks, multinational organisations and government ministries in developing the region’s smart card industry. American Express Middle East was recognised for offering the Middle East’s most compelling Corporate Card, with its excellent features and market share being key factors in winning the award.
“We are delighted that the American Express Corporate Card has been recognised with a prestigious award,” said Khoury. “Corporate expense management solutions are part of our core business expertise, and we work closely with our clients to offer bespoke solutions that deliver real benefits. In the past couple of years when the global economic downturn continued to present significant challenges to businesses in the region, the ability of the Corporate Card to help companies drive significant savings with their corporate expenses has never been more important.”
“For example, a key differentiator that the Corporate Card offers is access to detailed Management Information Reporting, which gives companies a greater understanding of their expenses and therefore greater control of their indirect spend,” added Khoury. pointing out that American Express’ proprietary business alone is the leading issuer of commercial cards and serves more than 70% of the Fortune 500, as well as tens of thousands of mid-sized companies.
The benefits of the American Express Corporate Card have been well recognised in the MENA region where Corporate Card spending grew by 30 per cent in 2010.
