Like Beirut

The Beirut of the Civil War years seems to have stuck as a stereotype of rough and bullet-ridden scape,
even though by now it takes on a more clean and crisp face. Contemporary high-rise luxury living and party pads replace
the war-torn buildings and tanks.
“Like a Scene from Beirut”
Beirut as a beauty spot and not a blemish: Taking issue with the already staid and outmoded likening of wreckage to Beirut. Has the perpetrator of this un-cool simile not read the slew of 'Beirut is Beautiful' and 'Come-Back' literature and reportage since 2009?
From a piece dated just today:
"Destruction and carnage? According to Russel Pritchard, it’s got to be how Beirut looks like:
YOUNG footballers are devastated after [the Carnforth Rangers FC] clubhouse was vandalised and left looking “like a scene from Beirut”."

McDonalds Happy Meal Gets Healthy Or Does it?
We had Super-Size from the 'Great Mac' but now we're getting a Sub-Size deal on the Junior share. Testing whether less is more in children portions, in small state Kuwait. What about Texas (the fat state of America)? - and the rest of the wide universe of the McDonald's enterprise. The Golden Archest put less fries in those kid bellies:
"McDonald’s is trimming their Happy Meal to make it more ‘healthier’. Well it is a first tiny step since the changes are not that big really. The new Happy Meals will roll out in April 2012 and will have half portion of the fries and few small slices of apple by default and a choice of low-fat chocolate or white milk. "

Norway’s monster and the poison of Zionist propaganda
"How much was the mind of Anders Behring Breivik conditioned and warped by Zionist propaganda as peddled with the assistance of Christian fundamentalism by much of the Western mainstream media and many web sites?"

In Defense of Nagging
Who would defend nagging which by definition is unpleasant and best avoided? Well here's a case of just that. In a display of patriotism that calls nagging patriotic and ambitious: those who don't nag are resting on the laurels, reasons Mustapha 'Spring'/
"Elie has written a passionate post in which he essentially says that the Lebanese nag too much and that we have to appreciate the many good things we have going for us. This sounds like a good critique of our society and we’ve seen this type of posts before. They are popular and make very good points, but in this post I will disagree and I will go all in to defend the naggers:"

New light through old windows
A trick of the light or tinted glass perhaps; or a veritable voyeur taking a peek through a window, gatecrashing imaginatively, and inviting us in through the window of this blog:
"I saw this photo opportunity and couldn't help but do the comparative... New lights through old windows..."
