Arab Idol's Winner: Egyptian Ingénue Carmen Sulaiman

The glitter has hit the stage floor. The spotlights are off. The contestants have long left the arena. Arab Idol has chosen its first winner: Egyptian favorite Carmen Sulaiman. With a sponsorship deal with Pepsi and other goodies, it's going to be a good year for this Cairo teen.

"Egyptian contestant Carmen Sulaiman has won the title of Arab Idol. The Finale has just ended and she won most votes leaving Moroccan finalist Dunia Batma in second place."

It's exciting to get foreign stand up comedians in the Middle East. But Lebanon was not excited about Russel's Peters's lackluster performance, as his humor falls into more familiar territory. "The newer jokes, however, were not all that bad and some, especially those culturally relevant to Lebanon, were quite good. My favorite was an observation about how rampant plastic surgery has become in Lebanese society. Even the government is giving loans for people to do plastic surgery."
