Fearless Art: Kick-Ass Women of the Week
One of the first things that I did when I arrived in New York was go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It offered me, beyond anything else, a dose of inspiration, and I tried to share some of that with my readers. I’ve always been a fan of art, even though I myself never had that creative side. Art is truly a powerful tool of expression that, like writing, presents ideas that can move people. I think one thing that art has over writing and other forms of expression though is the ability to be interpreted differently by different individuals. That, I think, is what makes good pieces of art great.

Big Meets Bigger
The BBC show Big Meets Bigger came to Kuwait a couple of years back and when the episode was finally aired it was uploaded online to the BBC website but no one outside the UK could watch it. Today though someone uploaded the video onto YouTube and it’s now finally available for everyone to watch. [VIDEO EMBEDDED]

The Importance of Social Media “Tyranny”
In case you haven’t noticed, we are having a kind of a backlash against Abed’s successful online campaign against Middle East Airlines. There are increasingly comments, facebook posts and tweets about how the MEA woman, the one who got fired for making racist remarks, was scapegoated for a sin that we are all guilty as a society of.
The nasty ones are criticizing online activists for holier-than-thou hypocrisy, and the big hearts are asking us to start from home and from schools and things like this will stop happening. Those are fine and fair arguments, but they are beside the point.

Dear United Colors of Benetton,Thanks For Listening
There’s nothing more refreshing than knowing there are companies out there that are actively listening and care about their customers’ feedback- companies with management that takes swift action and proactive enough to do the right thing.
I was surprised when I received a call today from a top manager at United Colors of Benetton’s regarding an incident with a store employee at their Kaslik branch I had blogged about yesterday. He had read my post and immediately looked into the matter. In fact, he had looked into the matter so thoroughly that he was able to track me through the purchase I had described in my post.
