Arabs dismal showing at the Olympics
A little harsh and a negative reading for Arab pride, given that 'entries' to the competition were very low from the Arab world - regardless of population figures. So perhaps the question we should be asking is what chance did the Arabs stand in the first place? It's not medals but participants that is problematic. 2 medals between how many "players", not counting those that stayed home or in the malls...
"The 22 countries of the Arab League – whose population stood at 349,558,392 – only have two medals between them!"

Lebanese filmmaker Niam Itani at the Venice film Festival
Something to celebrate for Lebanon and Arabs more widely:
"Lebanese filmmaker Niam Itani will be competing at the Venice film festival with her short film “Super.Full.” in a competition announced by YouTube earlier this year.
The prize, aside from a trip to Italy, is a $500,000 grant to work with Ridley Scott’s production company Scott Free."
