Jordan Today: From Angry Ammanis to Sacred Tourist Sites

Through the winding streets of Amman, you're bound to find yourself an "angry Ammani".
Angry Ammanis
It has been a running joke that Jordan has a large population of non-smiling individuals. Rand from Jordan points out the concept of the angry Ammanis, where anything and everything will upset a Amman native. Her particular focus (besides the traffic) is post-revolution Twitter, where Jordanians take it as an opportunity to lash out against each other.
"Then come the traffic lights, oh God the traffic lights gathering angry-woke-up-on-the-wrong-side-of-the-bed Ammanis, drivers that are insulted by the fact that there are cars ahead of them, I mean can you believe how outrageous it is not to be the first in line?"

By The River Jordan
It is easy to forgot that a water body could mean so much to a set of people. But the Jordan River imbued with blessings for so many people around the world for its biblical history. Thus, it is a travesty that it is being sucked dry, particularly by Israeli farms, and, as a result, may not be there anymore in a few decades time.
"I thought these images were quite interesting and worth posting up. While the Baptism site is considered one of Jordan’s national treasures, and rightly so, to say nothing of a symbol of co-existence – every time I see an event like this take place I’m reminded of the fact that this body of water may not be around very long."

2 decade master plan for Petra rewarded
Petra is a national treasure and one that has globally represented Jordan over the decades. So, it is a pleasant surprise to hear that it has received the APA's Pierre l'Enfant International Planning Award, which is set to be grant a presumably large some of money to complete a two decade maintenance and preservation plan.

Don’t Date a Girl Who Reads
Roba from Jordan has always been beyond passionate about reading, from her guides to improving one's reading skills to testimonials on its benefits. So, it comes as no surprise that her response to a tragic-but-poetic piece about how one should never fall for a girl that reads would be impassioned. But there is a surprising part: she agrees with it.
"Stay away. Find a pretty girl who perfectly fixes her hair in the morning instead. Find a dull girl who is happiest when gossiping. Find a dumb girl who expects you to be her savior, her protector, her benefactor. Find a girl who does not know what lies beyond the depressing, monotonous shit that is reality."
