Fat boy slim: Is Kuwait too heavy for a skinny state?

Kuwaitiful questions the statistics:

Kuwait - that tiny oil rich emirate - turns out to carry a bulk of weight, in its population of heavy Gulfis. 88% purportedly have weight issues, according to one study. Still, let's remain skeptical -

"I’ve read about obesity in Kuwait more times than I can remember whether it was from a newspaper or blog. Kuwait Times recently wrote an article about the increasing obesity in Kuwait mentioning 88% of Kuwaiti’s have weight problems. So 88 out of every 100 Kuwaiti’s are fat? I want to know where all those statistics come from. Why do I feel they surveyed 10 people and came up with conclusions.
