Why are Arab and Northern African Muslims so easily offended?

Modernity requires the willingness to be offended. And as anti-American violence across the Middle East and beyond shows, that willingness is something the Arab world, the heartland of Islam, still lacks.

Even as Arabs insist that their defects were inflicted on them by outsiders, they know their weaknesses. Younger Arabs today can be brittle and proud about their culture, yet deeply ashamed of what they see around them.

Law and order in Kuwait is; well seems there is no law or order. Government should start thinking about hanging people to set an example. You can kill a human being and get away with it. They should do something before hell breaks loose

A few days ago, the Pan Arabia Enquirer, a satirical online newspaper which is the Arab world’s answer to The Onion, wrote one of its typical fake stories: A Lebanese man in Dubai paid $200,000 to guarantee that he’ll be first to get a hold on an iPhone 5 (link).

What’s interesting is what happened next: Mainstream media started picking up the story as if it were real.

We understood that this riot was against the infamous anti-islam movie (which, FYI was filmed by a Coptic EGYPTIAN).

Yet "death to America" seems to be their brainwashed slogan, and without a second thought, they marched over to KFC and Hardees and torched the hell out of the restaurants. Because, you know, f*ck logic...
