Dr. Joerg Breuer, the new Managing Director of BMW Group Middle East
BMW Group Middle East has announced the appointment of Dr. Joerg Breuer as its new Managing Director. The German national will assume his new role as of 1 May 2011 from Phil Horton, who moves within the company to Managing Director for BMW Group Australia.
During his more than 15 years experience within the BMW Group, Breuer fulfilled a number of key roles in senior management, planning and strategy and corporate communications. He also brings diverse market experience to the role, having previously worked in Germany, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Thailand.
Previously, Breuer was Head of Sales for Region West in the German market, one of the BMW Group’s most influential regions and prior to that held the central role of Department Head of Strategy, Planning and Steering Corporate Communication. Before his tenure in Germany, Breuer spent three years as Managing Director of BMW Group Philippines, where he was responsible for the overall business operations across all departments including sales, after sales, finance, marketing and PR.
Commenting on his new appointment, Dr. Joerg Breuer said, “Taking over the role of Managing Director for BMW Group Middle East presents a new and exciting opportunity - I look forward to working closely with the team and business partners across the region to build on our success. We have a number of exciting new model launches planned for the rest of this year that include the BMW 6 Series Coupé, the BMW 1 Series M Coupé, BMW M5 and the MINI Coupé, so I've arrived at an exciting time when the company is poised to further strengthen its performance across the region.”
As one of the most successful premium companies in the Middle East, the BMW Group ended the first quarter of this year with a 19 percent growth in sales across the region. A total of 4,635 BMW and MINI cars were delivered to customers across 14 markets, with gains in virtually all markets. On the product side, the BMW 5 Series was the company's best-selling model followed by the flagship BMW 7 Series, the BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupe and the BMW 3 Series.
The ongoing success comes on the back of an active first quarter for BMW Group Middle East in which three new BMW Group models were launched; the third generation BMW 6 Series Convertible, the all new BMW X3 and the fourth MINI family member – the MINI Countryman.
