18 new electricity conversion stations built in Egypt
The Egyptian Electricity and Energy Ministry has recently completed the construction of 18 new electricity conversion stations in the various industrial zones and urban communities throughout the country.
According to Al-Gomhouria newspaper, the main locations of these stations are the areas of Sinai and Al-Qanah.
These new electricity stations have been planned to support future projects following land reclamation and the building of new cities. In addition, the local Minister of Electricity, Ali Saeidy, stated that a new high voltage electricity network was accomplished, accompanied by nine new electricity conversion stations.
Since 1981, several power station plans were implemented throughout Egypt, including 1300 MW stations built in Shourba El-Kheima and Kuraymat. During the past decade, the demand for electricity had grown by at average rate of 5.6 percent annually, and is expected to reach 105 billion KWH by 2005. –(Albawaba-MEBG)
