Baharain power/distillation plant upgrading to cost BD 16.1 million
(MEBG) – Bahrain’s Minister of Electricity and Water, Shaikh Duaij bin Khalifa bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, signed on July 25 a BD 14.3 million contract to upgrade the Sitra Power and Water Station, with the consortium consisting of Ansaldo Energia and Austrian Energy.
The consortium will carry out renovation work on boilers, steam turbines and associated auxiliaries, which help to produce 20 million gallons of distilled water and 100 megawatt of electricity every day.
The minister also signed a BD1.8 million agreement with the Japanese construction firm Sasakura Engineering Ltd. for the renovation of distillation plants at the Sitra Power and Water Station Phase. Each has a capacity of 2.5 million gallons per day.
The work is expected to begin by mid-September and should be completed by April 2002.
