Bahrain: Expatriates suffer from high rents
Rent prices are going steadily and good properties at reasonable rents are becoming scarce commodities in Bahrain, an article in <I>GDN</I> has indicated.
Landlords are making the most of soaring demand from those who work in Saudi Arabia, but want to live in Bahrain with their families and commute, mainly after a wave of attacks in 2004.
These Western expatriates have huge allowances in comparison to the average Bahraini expatriate and are ready to spend them in return for some luxury.
Investors are reluctant to build mid-priced compounds, recognising the higher returns they can get from homes which bring in between BD1,000 and BD2,000 a month.
