Bahrain plans to look for oil on newly-won Hawar
The ink is not yet dry on the judges ruling, and Bahrain has already inviting has invited international oil companies to drill for oil in the Hawar islands.
On Friday, the International Court in the Hague the court recognized Bahrain’s sovereignty over the Hawar Islands and Qitat Jarada Island, and Qatari sovereignty over the Zubara Strip, Fasht Dibel Rocks and Janan Island Both countries have accepted the ruling.
Although it was the first Gulf Arab state to produce oil in 1932, Bahrain has since then has seen its reserves near exhaustion, and badly needs to discover new fields. Its authorities hopes that Hawar will offer that opportunity. – (Albawaba-MEBG)
