BH Careers International launches mentoring service
Leading career management and outplacement firm BH Careers International has launched a mentoring service that supports expatriate managers across the region.
Announcing this, David Thatcher, regional managing director, BH Careers International in Dubai explained that the new service has been introduced to provide valuable support for the individual who now faces new challenges under increasingly competitive and difficult market conditions.
'The way people look for work today has changed, market conditions have created their own set of challenges that often present difficulties for many expatriate managers across the region. Last year we introduced new elements to our service to clients to help them address the dramatic changes in the market”, said Thatcher, whose company has been helping professionals and executives with career moves since 1947. 'The past 3 years have seen some remarkable changes across the region which can be linked to the tremendous growth that has occurred. In addition, the needs of many managers has altered as they look for continued support beyond the immediate confines of the region, often requiring 'return to home-base' planning.
“The region continues to grow at a remarkable rate and this has presented many obstacles and issues that need to be managed. We see turbulence and instability within some markets creating a “whirlpool” effect in the hiring arena, there are challenges associated with protocols such as WTO and difficulties assessing the value of “human capital”. The nature of company form and the implications of having an incorrect business model can have a serious impact on making bad hiring decisions that ultimately influence career satisfaction. Changes in technology and the demands placed on today’s managers are creating additional work pressure, while a weakening US Dollar combined with package erosion has been a cause for much concern.”
“These are very real issues that affect peoples lives every day” said Thatcher. “ Whilst our core offering of customised career management has remained, we have found that more managers need a dispassionate and objective mentor, to help put things into perspective and ultimately make sound career decisions.”
'We remain proud of the fact that we have retained our personality as an organisation that genuinely cares about our clients - each person is treated as just that - and absolute confidentiality is the foundation of all our communications.
