Coca-Cola awards Palestinian company
The Coca-Cola company has revealed that it has granted the Golden Quality Award to the National Drinks Limited Company, reported Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper. This company, based in Dubai, is responsible for bottling the Coca-Cola products throughout the Palestinian Territories
Market sources consider this initiative by Coca Cola an attempt to improve its image in the Middle East region. Since the outbreak of the Al-Aqsa uprising in the Palestinian Territories, several organizations and associations in the Middle East have called for the boycotting of a number of American companies that are considered sympathetic to Israel, including Coca-Cola. The boycott of these American enterprises serves as a show of support for the Palestinian cause.
The Coca-Cola company opened its first bottling factory in the Palestinian Territories on August 1998, taking up a 10,000-square meter facility in Ramallah. Initially employing 100, the plant presently employs about 400 Palestinians. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
