Official source at the Iraqi ministry of water resources announced that the Raphidin Company for Dams Accomplishment started the construction of Hasab Dam, located 70 km southwestern Najaf city, reported the Iraqi newspaper, <i>al-Furat</i> on March 28, 2005. The goal of establishing this dam is to provide water resources to the region, which will allow settling the Bedouins in the area. The project costs 1,586 million Iraqi Dinars and it will allow to storage 75 million cubic meter of water.
