Dubai Chamber receives Swedish delegation
Director General of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdul Rahman Ghanim Al-Mutaiwee praised the high level of bilateral trade and economic relations between Dubai and Sweden upon receiving Swedish member of parliament Yvonne Andersson.
“We are looking to develop the cooperation between our two countries to cover all sectors of the economy, including the advanced technology and scientific research due to their importance in developing business and moving towards higher aspirations” Al-Mutaiwee said. Insisting that an increased presence of Swedish businessmen in Dubai is important to penetrate the markets in the region.
Andersson’s visit aims to consolidate the bilateral trade relations between the two countries, especially in the in the fields of education, technology and health. During the meeting, she enquired about the future of research activity in Dubai and if there any plans to develop it to coincide with the economic development witnessed here over such a short period. Al-Mutaiwee replied; “We are trying to establish large foundations for this field. Time wise, it has not kept up with the speed of the commercial growth, although we have succeeded in developing the necessary infrastructure to develop the next steps. We have established the Internet City, Knowledge Village, and Ideas Oasis”.
“At the beginning, Dubai was more concerned with establishing and developing many sectors such as commerce, agriculture, financial services, health, tourism and others to consolidate the local resources. That was followed by the fields of scientific research and technology as they help develop the business arena and creating new projects,” he added. — (menareport.com)
