Egypt’s GDP assessed for 1999/2000 fiscal year
Recently published statistics from the Egyptian Ministry of Planning indicate that Egypt’s gross domestic product (GDP) stood at 282 billion Egyptian pounds ($66 billion) during the 1999/2000 fiscal year.
Of this amount, overall social services constituted EP 50,019 million, or 17.7 percent of the total GDP for the same year.
According to the Ministry, social and personal services equaled EP 21,671 million, government services EP 21,662 million, social insurance EP 214 million, utilities 1,159 million, and housing and real estate services 5,313 million.
Production services, on the other hand, constituted EP 92,181 million, while the commodity sector amounted to EP 140,001 million of the total GDP. –(Mena Report)
