Egyptian cement production reaches 2.73 million tons in August
Egypt’s cement production reached 2.739 million tons for August, down from 2.75 million tons in July, reported the Central Bank of Egypt. The Arab states cement output for the first eight months of the year totaled 19.8 million tons.
Some 2.42 million tons of cement was sold to the local market in August compared to 2.1 million tons in July.
Egypt’s cement sector has witnessed rapid growth since the end of the 1990s. Increased demand attracted several producers into the market, especially as the government decided to privatize its holdings in six companies. By the end of 2002, there were four new cement production facilities in the country, supplying an approximated 1.40 million tons of cement each annually. — (menareport.com)
