A new recycling initiative is set to be launched by real estate major Emaar Properties at the two-day 'Home Improvement 2006' event which began recently at the Hayya Club in The Meadows Village.

The 'Earth Watch' program, presented at Home Improvement will be a platform for residents in Emaar developments to meet and discuss topics such as recycling within their communities, as well as interior design, gardening, home finance, Feng Shui, and home security.

"Earth Watch is being launched at Home Improvement to highlight the importance of recycling," said Ahmad Al Falasi, director of Property Management for Emaar Properties, according to Gulf News.

Recycling tools such as cardboard boxes and plastic bags will be introduced by the important initiative so that residents can more easily discard paper waste and plastic beverage containers, metal cans and cups in a manner which will facilitate their recycling. In addition, color-coded plastic disposal bins will be placed within the communities for recycling paper, plastic and metal, and glass waste.

Every week, Earth Watch representatives will collect the boxes and bags and provide new sets to the project's participants.

The projects also aims to raise the awareness of the general public about the importance of recycling household goods, a procedure common for many years across the developed world.
