Emirates gives formal backing to Dubai Strategy Forum 2002
Leading figures from government, business, education, media and civil society meet in Dubai in late October for the Dubai Strategy Forum 2002 – a chance to engage in open dialogue on the future of a region of nearly two billion people. Often known as the Third World, this crucial area includes 31 countries, 1.8 billion people and a combined Gross Domestic Product (GDP) estimated at $1.5 trillion.
The forum will include 20-plus sessions and workshops at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel Convention Center, and stand as an example of Dubai's appreciation that the region has nearly one-third of the world's people, but only five percent of its wealth.
Recognizing the vital role of the region, which spans North and East Africa, Central and South Asia and the broader Middle East, including the Gulf States, the forum has signed up major supporters to help it achieve its goals.
Formally joining as an Organizing Partner this week was the Dubai-based Emirates airline, giving formal backing to the Forum and joining Dubai Media City, ENOC, Gulf News, the National Bank of Dubai and auditors PricewaterhouseCoopers. Activity sponsors include Booz Allen Hamilton; General Motors; Jumeirah Beach Residence; Mashreq Bank; Oracle and Visa. — (menareport.com)
