Emirati air cargo services geared up for bright future
UAE banking sources expect remarkable growth in the air shipment industry in the next few years, due to major projects and investments currently underway in the country.
A recently published report by the Emirates Industrial Bank shows that the volume of the cargo going through the Emirates airports grew from 240,000 tons in 1990 to 792,000 tons last year. In 2000, 390,000 tons of cargo arrived into the UAE and 402,000 tons of cargo were shipped out of the country via airports.
The country’s air shipment facilities have undergone a major overhaul in the past years, costing the UAE government millions of dollars. — (MEBG-Albawaba)
