EMS enters JV
In a bid to enhance the penetration of its energy conservation message
into the emirate of Abu Dhabi, Energy Management Services (EMS), the leading
energy management and energy conservation company in the Middle East, have entered into a joint venture with Abu Dhabi based Jernain Maintenance LLC, a subsidiary of the Al Ain International Group.
Commenting on the joint venture, Amer Abu Zaid, General Manager, JernainEMS Abu Dhabi said, "With high investment in new property development and the increase in population straining the existing resources, Abu Dhabi Emirate is ready for articulate investment in energy management - as indeed, is the rest of the Middle East region. The concept is not totally new, but the urgency to implement with expert vision is being felt today, more than
ever before. The combined strength of Al Ain International Group's knowledge
of the Abu Dhabi property market and Energy Management Services (EMS)'
regional expertise in energy management solutions will generate major financial gains for property owners and users alike."
"This joint venture is an important step forward in extending the reach
of our services across the country. With the rapid urbanisation and industrialisation of the country, a high level of energy consumption is no longer just an environmental issue. It has become a crucial financial issue with implications on annual profits of enterprises, as well as the budgetary constraints of the individual user. Besides direct expense on energy bills, inefficient consumption affects maintenance and lifespan of equipment. For property owners, this means wasteful investment and for the tenants this results in high rents," explained Khaled Bushnaq, Managing Director, Energy Management Services.
In the start-up phase, with the signing of the joint-venture, JernainEMS
will be responsible for ensuring optimum energy management through value
engineering for several projects at the design stage. Spread across Qatar,
Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the projects are expected to generate capital savings
of over AED 14.5 million in terms of investment in products such as HVAC,
illumination and water fittings and optimising property design and construction
elements to enhance the performance of equipment installed.
Value Engineering projects for properties at the design stage include the
Mangrove Residential Village in Abu Dhabi, a development of over 400 villas
in two types; the Al Kamal Tower, a residential cum commercial building,
also in Abu Dhabi; the Dubai Marina 2N residential tower; and the Al Ariyam
Tower in Qatar. Post-construction, users of these buildings will be able
to make collective operational savings of over AED 1 million, in comparison
to buildings without energy management systems in place.
JernainEMS has also won the energy management contracts for the 30 story
residential cum commercial Silver Tower on the Abu Dhabi corniche and 20
storeys residential cum shopping centre Jernain Tower in Khaledya Street.
When initially built, both towers did not have any energy management systems in place. Silver Tower will generate savings of worth more than 15% per cent of the existing annual energy expenditure; as for Jernain Tower the
savings benefits is around 20% per cent of the annual energy consumption.
The combined operational savings for both buildings are in excess of AED
285,200/- on an annual basis.
Meanwhile, JernainEMS is currently managing the energy management systems at three of Abu Dhabi's leading hotels, namely Le Meridien Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Hotel and the Black Tulip Al Jazeera Beach Resort
