Etisalat & Huawei Successfully Launches HSPA+ 42Mbps Network in EGYPT
Etisalat, the leader in providing 3G services in Egypt, in partnership with Huawei Technologies Co Ltd, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunication network solutions for operators around the world, has launched its HSPA+ Phase 2 network in EGYPT.
This new technology has already been deployed in the Etisalat Misr network. The existing network has reached an average download speed at 41.73 Mbps. “Etisalat Misr will continue making strides in the wireless broadband market in Egypt in collaboration with our partner Huawei,” said Mr. Haitham AbudulRazzak, CTO of Etisalat Misr “Etisalat will boom its data bit speed in its next generation network to 42Mbps also known as HSPA+ Phase2 or evolved HSPA, and provide maximum broadband speed as we have always committed to our consumers to maintain our leadership for the wireless broadband market in Egypt. Today Etisalat has 80% population coverage for 3G in major cities and reaching small towns and villages across all Egypt”.
“We are honored to partner with Etisalat Misr since 2006,” said Mr. Jason Xiao, director of Huawei Egypt Etisalat Key Account. “With our innovative HSPA+ solutions, we are dedicated to help Etisalat Misr enhance its success in EGYPT.”
Etisalat customers will be enjoying the fastest mobile broadband speed and better services than any time previously through its HSPA+ Phase2 network in the coming few months on a wide scale. HSPA+ Phase 2 increases Etisalat mobile broadband network capacity to support speeds of up to 42Mbps, from 21Mbps previously.
In May 2010, Etisalat appointed Huawei to expand and upgrade its nationwide 3G mobile broadband network to HSPA+ Phase2. The HSPA+ service launch is part of Etisalat Misr strategy to provide an unparalleled mobile broadband experience that can deliver better surfing experience, higher resolution on streamed mobile content, improved interactivity and other next-generation wireless applications with high bandwidth requirements.
