French-Egyptian ties stressed at Paris conference
As part of Egyptian efforts to encourage economic cooperation with France, Egypt’s economy ministry and its Embassy in Paris recently organized a conference in the French capital, under the title ‘Egypt's Economy in 2001, New Impetus’.
According to Ali Maher, the Egyptian ambassador to France, the event aimed to promote bilateral exchanges and to increase French investments in Egypt by stressing its economic achievements.
Many Egyptian and French businessmen participated in the event, during which discussions were held on the development of various national infrastructure projects, investment risks and the industry sector.
Bilateral economic relations are considered extremely important by both countries, considering both France’s major role in the European Union, as well as Egypt's central position in the Middle East.
In the past, President Hosni Mubarak has stated his interest in developing relations with Paris, while putting an emphasis on the field of advanced agricultural research. ― (MENA Report)
