Hilton Worldwide signs first Hilton property in Al Khobar with Jenan Real Estate Company
Hilton Worldwide today announced the signing of a Management Agreement with Jenan Real Estate Company to introduce the first Hilton branded property in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, the 400-room Hilton Al Khobar Hotel & Residence, scheduled to open in Q4 2013.
“Saudi Arabia is one of our key development markets and with this signing, we have achieved our goal of a Hilton branded presence in all the key cities of the Kingdom. The Eastern Province’s multi-faceted tourism industry is the perfect destination for our core Hilton brand. With a combined hotel and residence product, we will be able to cater to the business, corporate, meetings and leisure demands of this city,” said Jean-Paul Herzog, President, Hilton Worldwide, Middle East & Africa.
Hilton Worldwide is partnering with Jenan Real Estate Company, experts in real estate and community development in the Eastern Province, on the new-build 400-room hotel and residence. The new property will be part of an upscale mixed-use development with a range of facilities including a hotel, residential towers, a retail mall and an office building. Construction is scheduled to start in March 2011.
“We are delighted to join hands with Hilton Worldwide to bring the Hilton brand to Al Khobar. With the city’s ever-increasing demand for upscale accommodation, Hilton’s established credentials will help us meet travellers’ high expectations for this new property,” said Abdul Mohsen Rashed Al Rashed, Chairman of Jenan Real Estate Company.
The Hilton Al Khobar Hotel & Residence high rise complex is composed of 250 guest rooms and suites, together with 150 serviced apartments. The property will feature two speciality restaurants and one all-day dining outlet, in addition to an executive lounge and a pool outlet. Meetings facilities will include nine meeting rooms, a function room and a ballroom. The hotel and residence will also be equipped with a business centre, health club, spa and an outdoor pool.
“We are proud to have signed our sixth Hilton branded property in Saudi Arabia. As the leading hotel brand* in the Middle East, we bring together business and leisure facilities with an inimitable sense of style, attention to detail and dedication to service quality that is globally recognised for its excellence. With the introduction of Hilton Al Khobar Hotel & Residence, we aim to marry our brand’s global standards with the local characteristics of Al Khobar for a unique hospitality offering,” said Dave Horton, Global Head, Hilton Hotels brand.
The hotel’s strategic location between Downtown Al Khobar, Dammam and Dhahran is in close proximity to the headquarters of Saudi Aramco, the largest petroleum company in the world. King Fahd Causeway, linking Saudi Arabia to the Kingdom of Bahrain, is a short 15 kilometre drive from the hotel, while King Fahd International Airport, the third major hub in the Kingdom, is situated 50 kilometres away.
“This is a unique mixed-use development and we at Jenan are proud to partner with Hilton Worldwide to manage the 400-room hotel and apartments. This signing is in line with our strategy to develop unique projects that enhance the living standards in Saudi Arabia and contribute to the overall development of our country. It will be the largest mixed-use project in the Eastern Province and will be a unique destination - a city within a city,” said Dr. Bassam Boodai, Managing Director and CEO of Jenan Real Estate Company.
Al Khobar is located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, the heart of the Kingdom’s petro-chemical industry and consequently, one of the largest markets for hotel and serviced apartment units. Its large resident expatriate population has transformed the city into a commercial hub. In addition to corporate business, Al Khobar’s waterfront location also attracts a large number of domestic tourists who consider the city’s family beaches an ideal vacation spot.
Hilton Worldwide has an existing footprint of six properties in Saudi Arabia – Jeddah Hilton, Makkah Hilton & Towers, Madinah Hilton, Qasr Al Sharq Waldorf Astoria Collection and Hilton Garden Inn Riyadh Olaya. A further three properties are under development; Hilton Riyadh Hotel & Residence (Q4 2013), Doubletree by Hilton, Al Khobar (Q4 2012) and Hilton Garden Inn Riyadh Al Muroj (Q3 2011).
