InterContinental Hotels Group to open Holiday Inn Hotel in Abu Dhabi
InterContinental Hotels Group, the world’s most global hotel company, has announced it will be expanding its portfolio of properties in the UAE with the development of a Holiday Inn Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
The Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi will be located at one of the region’s best planned upcoming communities, Danet Abu Dhabi. It will be operated by Hospitality Management Services and will complement the group’s existing brands within the Emirate, including the InterContinental Abu Dhabi, Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi and InterContinental Resort Al Ain.
“This announcement follows the recent opening of the Holiday Inn Sharjah and represents the ongoing expansion of the InterContinental Hotels Group across the UAE,” said Phil Kasselis, Vice President, Development, InterContinental Hotels Group, Middle East and Africa.
“By establishing a Holiday Inn in Danet Abu Dhabi, we are seeking to attract a greater share of both domestic and international business as well as leisure and meeting travellers,” said His Excellency, Eng. Salah Bin Omair Al Shamsi, Chairman & Managing Director, Al Qudra Holding. “Holiday Inn is a powerful brand internationally and Abu Dhabi is an important market for the Holiday Inn® Hotels and Resorts, as the city’s fast growing prominence as a major business centre is increasing.”
“The Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi will embody the established Holiday Inn brand hallmarks by offering guests a great night’s sleep, a hearty breakfast and friendly, helpful staff,” added Kasselis.
Scheduled to open at the end of 2007, the 8-floor Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi will have over 200 standard and executive rooms and private suites, including a roof top level with state of the art leisure facilities. Retail outlets, a coffee shop and specialty restaurant are also planned for the ground floor, with an all-day restaurant and business centre to be located on the Mezzanine floor.
The hotel will be situated 15 minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport near the Diplomatic quarter and will be close to major shopping malls to offer guests choices from some of the world’s leading international retail brands.
The property will include conference facilities providing hi-tech, audio, video and telecommunications equipment. These facilities combined with the brand’s globally recognized reputation for professional and friendly staff promises an unparalleled stay in the region.
