Libyan $1.5-billion deal with airbus reconsidered
Libya announced that it has opened negotiations to purchase aircraft from Russian and Ukrainian manufacturing companies, reported Al-Hayat newspaper.
It added that if Washington continues to postpone the execution of the $1.5-billion deal previously signed with the American Airbus Company, it will have no choice but to sign alternate contracts with the Russian and Ukrainian companies.
The Libyan National Airlines Company signed an initial agreement with Airbus in late 1999 to purchase 24 airplanes. New planes will allow for the renewal of the Libyan national air carrier fleet. — (MENA Report)
