MENA to dominate in US$5.5 billion anti-aging industry

With just five weeks to go before the UAE welcomes the 2nd Dubai Congress on Anti-Aging and Aesthetic Medicine (DCAAAM), international exhibitors and medical speakers are preparing to announce the latest biomedical advancements to help improve a healthy human lifespan.

As the Middle East’s burgeoning anti-aging market continues to grow, the Congress – being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from November 8-9 – will showcase emerging revolutionary technology in a region that is witnessing unprecedented growth.

According to a report by US industry analysts Global Industry Inc. of San Jose, the market for anti-aging products in the combined geographic region of the Middle East (composed of the nations of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Kuwait, Iran, Iraq and Syria) and Africa stood at US$4.41 billion in 2007.

Furthermore the report states that the market Is growing at a compounded annual rate of 7.78% over the period 2001-2010; and is projected to rise to US$5.58 billion by 2010.*

Says Robert Goldman, Chairman of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M): “The latest breakthroughs in anti-aging medicine lie within the arena of regenerative medicine, which applies advanced biomedical technologies for the purposes of renewing body tissues to peak function for prolonged periods of time. Key subjects in regenerative medicine include stem cell therapeutics, genetic engineering and genomics, nanotechnology and therapeutic cloning.

“The event will include cutting-edge research and products, much of it not seen before in the Gulf. Exhibitors will cover every area of anti-aging from lab technology, medical suppliers, cosmetic surgery clinics, fitness and weight-loss companies to supplements and nutrition products.”
