Montblanc opens its largest Middle East boutique in Kuwait
Sustained by robust growth in the global luxury retail business, luxury goods manufacturer Montblanc, recognized worldwide for its classic timepieces, jewelry, leather goods and writing instruments opened an exclusive boutique in Kuwait’s Avenues Mall Phase II recently. The boutique is the largest Montblanc boutique in the Middle East region.
Speaking to reporters at the venue after the inauguration, Sonke Tornieporth, Montblanc Vice President Sales, GBU Central said “The boutique in Kuwait underlines a paradigm shift in our regional focus as we place more emphasis on the watch and jewellery segment of our business along with the leather goods and writing instruments business.”
“Our regional expansion plan entails the opening of new boutiques in the current fiscal year inclusive of our own outlets as well as through franchise partners and Kuwait is a prominent part of this expansion drive,” remarked Mr. Tornieporth.
Commenting on the reasons for choosing Kuwait for the boutique opening, Mr. Tornieporth said that luxury products were well received in Kuwait because of the country’s booming economy. “Oil in Kuwait was discovered in the late 1930s and since that time, the country has become one of the most influential economies in the Middle East. With an estimated 10% of the world's oil reserves, every sector has reaped the benefits of oil profits,” he stressed.
“Kuwait is an affluent, relatively open economy that has been boosted by high oil prices in recent years resulting in a positive fiscal situation,” observed Mr. Tornieporth.
The Montblanc boutique in Kuwait will be operated through franchise partners Beidoun Trading Company that represent the largest perfume, cosmetics, and accessories retail chain in Kuwait. The company has grown to become one of Kuwait's leading retailers and marketers of prestige brands and luxury goods.
The boutique opening in Kuwait was attended by the German Ambassador to Kuwait, His Excellency Dr. Michael Worbs, along with senior officials from Montblanc including Sonke Tornieporth, Vice President Sales GBU Central-Montblanc, Joe Nahhas, Montblanc’s Regional Brand Director and officials from Montblanc’s Kuwait Franchise partners, Beidoun Trading Company including Chairman, Zouheir Beidoun and General Manger, Jameel Beidoun.
“We identified the Avenues mall as the location for the Montblanc boutique as it is the largest and most recently opened mall in Kuwait which consists of 5 phases,” remarked Jameel Beidoun. “Phase 2 where the Montblanc boutique is located is the high end products area of the mall, featuring international haute couture brands and luxury boutiques,” he stressed.
The opening was followed by a VIP gala dinner at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers in Kuwait attended by over 100 delegates. International composer and artist Guy Manoukian, the charismatic, Armenian origin, Lebanese born composer, regaled audiences with his unique style of classical jazz/oriental music.
