Globalnet, authorised distributor for Motorola phones and accessories in the UAE, revealed that Motorola’s share of the UAE mobile phone market has increased more than 100 per cent since September 2005. The sharp increase has been confirmed by research carried out by international market analysts GfK-MEhMRB Marketing Services.

According to the research, sales of Motorola mobiles have more than doubled since September 2005. While Motorola’s share of all mobile handsets sold in the UAE stood at 5.3 per cent last September, the figure has risen to 10.9 per cent by March this year.

At the same time, Motorola’s market value has tripled over the same period, rising from 2.8 per cent in September 2005 to 10.7 per cent in March 2006.

Commenting on the Gfk MEMRB report, Neal Barros, General Manager, Globalnet said, “Motorola understands the incredibly diverse tastes in the region and their ability to cater to them is what sets them apart from other mobile manufacturers.”

The worldwide popularity of the fully loaded RAZR V3i, widely acknowledged as a design icon, has been the driving force behind Motorola’s recent resurgence. Motorola’s latest offerings also include the innovative PEBL U6, and the SLVR L7 which is even slimmer than the super-slim RAZR. “With such a comprehensive portfolio of handsets, Motorola is poised to go straight to the top and Globalnet will continue investing in the resources to ensure the journey is smooth,” says Barros.
