New CEO appointed to lead Batelco
British born Tony Hart has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco), in the Arabian Gulf. He takes up the post on August 1. Hart succeeds fellow-Brit Andrew Hearn who retires at the end of July after serving 11 years as Batelco's Chief Executive.
Batelco is a monopoly info-communications operator that was privatized in 1981. Its shareholders include the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, leading financial and commercial organizations and Bahrain and Gull Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens. Cable and Wireless is a 20 percent stakeholder. — (menareport.com)
