New Expo City exhibit planned for Sharjah
A permanent exhibition center in 'New Expo City' in the emirate of Sharjah is being planned by Indian and Sharjah authorities.
The New Expo City, which currently features expo centres of Egypt and some CIS countries, is being developed by Sharjah Government along with Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Sharjah Expo Center, according to Khaleej Times.
"We are discussing the issue with the Indian authorities and are promoting solo exhibition centers in the expo city," said Saif Al Midfa, Director-General of Expo Centre Sharjah.
"We have been receiving applications from many countries to set up a permanent exhibition centre to boost the trade relations between Sharjah and other countries," he added.
The New Expo City will encourage countries to boost bilateral trade and investment with Sharjah and the UAE, and will target investors planning to invest out of the UAE as well as in it.
"At present, the Egypt exhibition centre and CIS centre are nearing completion and will be operational by first half of 2007. While the talks are still on, both India and Sharjah would explore joint investments in areas such as real estate and Information technology.
We offered India the proposal of having a permanent centre to exhibit
their talents in potential areas of investment. The proposed expo city
will be developed into a financial hub for Sharjah to attract investors," said Mohammed Salem Al Mosharrekh, Board Member- Expo Centre Sharjah, pioneer for the Indian venture.
