Nokia strengthens presence in Morocco
Nokia, the global leader in mobile communications, has announced the opening of a new office in Morocco. The facility, located in Casablanca, will employ 50 people responsible for managing relationships with Nokia’s customers and providing them with consulting services and technical assistance.
The opening is part of Nokia’s move to expand its activities across the Middle East and Africa region, where the mobile subscriber growth rate is one of the highest in the world.
“There are currently 2 billion mobile phone subscribers worldwide and we expect that by 2010 this number will have reached 3 billion. We are expanding across the Middle East and Africa to meet this growth and share Nokia’s strong experience and state-of-the-art products and solutions with our customers,” said Timo Toikkanen, Vice President, Customer and Market Operations, Nokia Middle East and Africa.
The new office will play a vital role in serving Nokia’s growing customer base and will reinforce the excellent collaboration that Nokia has forged with operators Maroc Telecom and Meditel. Nokia, which has been operating in the country for 17 years, opened its first office in the kingdom in Casablanca in 1994, followed by a Rabat office in 1997.

We strive to be a good corporate citizen by contributing to society through programs such as E-Alpha program and other initiatives focusing on youth and education. We have already begun this in Morocco and will be expanding it across the region.”
