Number of Russian tourists in Jordan up

The number of Russian tourists visiting Jordan went up by 102 percent during the years 2002-2004, according to Director General of the Jordan Tourism Board Mazen Hmoud.


According to Petra, Hmoud added that the number of Russians arriving in Jordan rose last year to 9,919 tourists compared to 9,284 in 2003 and 4,909 in 2002. "Russia is one of the most important emerging tourism markets for Jordan," he said, noting that most Russians visiting the Kingdom express special interest to visit the Dead Sea, Petra and Aqaba.
