Oil tensions between Sudan and South Sudan intensify
The world’s newest country is suing its former other half because of what South Sudan describes as “stealing” oil. South Sudan’s oil minister revealed that the ministry filed a lawsuit against Khartoum in a “specialized international tribunal”.
When South Sudan gained independence in July 2011, it obtained about 75% of the former area of Sudan’s oil. However, the newly landlocked region must use a pipeline through the north to export the crude. Since the two countries have failed to reach an agreement over a transit fee, Sudan (Khartoum) has seized about 120,000 barrels daily since January 17 in retaliation for unpaid transit fees.
The two sides failed to reach an agreement over the transit fees, with the north demanding $36 per barrel that passes through northern infrastructure and an additional $1 billion in unpaid fees. South Sudan estimates that overall, Khartoum has taken $350 million worth of oil and prevented amounts worth $400 million from departing Port Sudan.
Oil represents 98% of revenues in South Sudan, but the government has decided that it is better to stop production and keep it in the ground than to allow Khartoum to appropriate it. Additionally, Juba accused Khartoum of preventing ships from loading goods belonging to South Sudan.
In search of a solution, South Sudan’s Oil Minister Stephen Dhieu Dau announced, “We have already started discussions about construction of a pipeline through eastern Africa, via Kenya. We expect the pipeline to be completed in 10 months. We will also begin immediately the construction of a refinery in South Sudan.”
Sudan and South Sudan are negotiating in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, with the African Union mediating. However, talks have stalled as each side refuses to negotiate on the oil problems. (Source: english.nuqudy.com)

when Sudan president Omar AL-Bashir
looks into the mirror he sees a shell of a man .
23 years ago he took charge of the largest
country in Africa .
even an average man should have many accomplishments
after such a long rule ?
Bashir chose to divide power along racial and religious
lines .
he chose this same formula to divide economic power .
Sudan even before Bashir , had been a land of conflict .
and in hind sight , Bashir embraced " HITLER-LIKE "
goals of a more powerful Sudan .
and Bashir also embraced the goals of a more ethnically
pure Sudan .
on the christian south of his own country , Bashir
introduced modern warfare .
with aerial bombers and helicopter gunships .
20 years of genocide against rural tribes men .
millions died , millions became refugees .
and at the end of 2011 , the newly independent
SOUTH SUDAN was born .
1/4 of the old Sudan was now out of Bashir's reach .
and Bashir's fantasy of greatness has died .
seeing defeat in the south , Bashir turned his
efforts to the DARFUR region of his own country .
the tribes men of DARFUR were believers of Islam .
but their ethnic background was un-desirable
to Bashir .
as in south Sudan , Darfur was now consumed
by the winds of genocide and ethnic cleansing .
one half million dead .
2 1/2 million more refugees .
with superior weapons , Bashir ruled the sky's of
Darfur by day .
but by night the Darfur fighters controlled
nearly all of Bashir's western boarder region .
and to the east of Khartoum , Bashir is entangled
in yet another conflict , inside his own country ,
with his own people ??
just by body count alone , Bashir is responsible
for the murder of more innocents
than Saddam of Iraq , Qaddafi of Libya and Assad ,
father and son of Syria ,
all 4 tyrants added together .
The Juba regime does not seem to realize that this is not 'aid'.It is a business contract. If you want something ,you have to pay for it. If it is denied to you then, you should not cry out as if you are a victim.Grow up!
