Only 0.05 percent of income spent on info in ME
Addressing the “Horizons of Electronic Commerce in the Arab World,” symposium, deputy chief director of the Saudi Bin Laden Group, Mohammed Bin Laden, called on Arab countries to further invest and improve the Middle East e-commerce sector.
According to Al-Bayan daily, Bin Laden noted that such steps are required if the information gap between the Arab world and rest of the global community was to be bridged.
Bin Laden added that Arab governments must promote their technological and scientific sectors in anticipation of the arrival of future e-commerce and IT projects to the region. He also claimed that the spending on information in the Arab states was insufficient, as it did not exceed 0.05 percent of the per capita income in these countries. ― (MENA Report)
