OPEC holds discussions to deal with Iraqi oil production suspension
According to Al-Hayat newspaper, the OPEC member countries are holding intensive discussions in order to resolve the oil supply shortage problem that might emerge because of the Iraqi decision to stop oil production.
Last Friday, Iraq decided to suspend its oil export, which is equivalent to 5 percent of the world’s total oil consumption, following a dispute with the United Nations regarding the Iraqi oil pricing based on the Oil for Food Agreement.
A senior Jordanian industrial source revealed that Jordan would begin to import non-oil products and goods from Iraq including barley, urea, sulfur and dates.
The same source added that Jordanian businessmen had constantly applied for permits to import such goods from Iraq over the past years. –(Albawaba-MEBG)
