Pepsi-Cola adds a new twist to Gulf market
Soft drinks giant Pepsi-Cola International (PCI) recently began distributing its new Pepsi Twist drink throughout the Arabian Gulf region, one of only a handful of markets around the world where the product is to be sold. The new flavor made its regional debut in Saudi Arabia last September, where it boosted total Pepsi trademark volume, according to a company press release.
The new Pepsi soft drink, a lemon flavored carbonated drink, is expected to capture a significant market share since there are no existing competitors in the region, stated Talal Al-Khalil, PCI's Marketing Director Middle East North Africa and Pakistan Business Unit.
In an effort to improve their customer service, PCI Middle East has recently hired Compaq Computer Middle East to install a new Storage Area Network (SAN) at Pepsi’s regional office in Dubai. Pepsi installed several Compaq ProLiant Servers to store their sensitive data.
Pepsi has about 400 Gigabytes of data and a large Wide Area Network (WAN), consisting of some 1000 users, spread over eight locations in the region. Because SAN storage is externalized, it can be accessed through alternate data paths, eliminating single points of failure.
Pepsi-Cola has operated for over 40 years in the Middle East offering a range of products—Pepsi, Diet Pepsi Light, Mirinda, 7up, Diet 7up, Mountain Dew, Shani and Teem—through a regional network of 27 exclusive Pepsi franchise bottlers. — (menareport.com)
