Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) won two prestigious awards yesterday at the 39th Arab Health Congress 2014, emphasising their contribution to the development of global health standards in the UAE.
Being held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 27 – 30 January, SEHA won the award for surgical expertise and another for excellence in medical education.
A SEHA subsidiary, Mafraq Hospital’s Dr. Khalid Ibrahim Abu won the surgical expertise award for eye surgery. He is also responsible for introducing innovative new procedures at the hospital, such as new techniques in operations conducted on the eye’s tear ducts.
SEHA subsidiaries Al Ain and Tawam Hospitals’ Director of Shared Services for Obstetrics and Gynaecology Dr. Saad Asuad, won the award for Individual Participation of Excellence in Healthcare. With 14 years of experience in organising healthcare conferences, Dr. Asuad has facilitated the exchange of ideas and solutions across the medical industry through the forums.
Commenting on the wins, SEHA Executive Director Mr. Rashid Al Qubaisi said, “The healthcare sector in the UAE has rapidly advanced to global standards, which could not have been achieved without the continuing support and wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.”
He added: “These awards not only honour SEHA, but all its partners, and in particular the teams at SEHA who are dedicated to their work. The awards will contribute to stimulating new enterprises and encourage professionals in this vital sector to improve the services provided to patients.”
Additionally, three SEHA medical facilities were shortlisted for their vital contributions to the region’s healthcare industry. The 39th Arab Health Conference has been instrumental in reflecting SEHA’s significant contributions to Abu Dhabi and the UAE’s healthcare sectors.
