In line with its long-term strategy to support education reform in Aqaba, Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) recently announced the launch of its third educational campaign, “EkfalTaleb 3.”
The campaign is one of the main efforts under the umbrella of education initiatives organized by ACT's CSR committee in collaboration with the Directorate of Education in Aqaba. The primary objective of the campaign is to empower community members by reducing school dropout rates caused by harsh economic conditions. The campaign will deliver schoolbags containing sufficient education essentials for the span of an entire school year, with a total of 500 schoolbags delivered this year to students in 18 schools throughout Aqaba and its neighbouring suburban areas. ACT is also covering the costs of school uniforms and secondary education tuition fees for a number of students identified by the Directorate of Education inAqaba.
ACT is considered a leading contributor in Aqaba's socioeconomic development and an active member of its community through the activities of its CSR committee. To that end, the terminal has formulated a comprehensive social responsibility strategy that seeks to make a measurable positive impact across various pillars within the arenas of education, environmental awareness and community development. "EkfalTaleb" is a yearly campaign initiated in 2012 and is considered one of ACT's sustainable CSR programs that are planned to remain active for years to come.
ACT firmly believes that the private sector has an active role to play in supporting education within communities nationwide in order to foster a more balanced, equitable and productive society.
