Philip King, Head of Retail Banking, UAE, said: “e-Commerce is growing across the UAE and GCC. People in the UAE are doing more of their shopping online and recent studies predict that e-Commerce in MENA region will to grow to $200 billion by 2020. American online retailers are amongst the most preferred for specialized and discounted products and customers often find it difficult to have the products delivered to their shipping address in the UAE because of various reasons. We are launching this service to address this need of our customers to help them get their online purchases delivered to them in the UAE and believe that this will set a new benchmark.”
According to a study by Frost & Sullivan, the UAE is expected to be a key market for e-Commerce with the highest total market share of 53 per cent across the GCC countries. The high growth will come from the fact that the UAE has the highest level of computer ownership in the Middle East at 76 per cent, the highest level of internet penetration at 78 per cent and the highest per capita online retail spending on par with US and EU.
