With dancers, singers, acrobats and performers dressed up as playing cards, sign posts, ballerinas and more, and everyone’s favourite summer friend, Modhesh, making his appearance, BurJuman will be abuzz with excitement this DSS through stage shows and roaming performances that will regale children and grown-ups alike.
Families will be able to catch all the action at the mall’s South Village starting June 8th with the stage show The Vocal People. In three half-hour shows starting at 5pm, 6:30pm and 8pm respectively, a cast of eight talented costumed dancers and performers will captivate audiences with stage performances that showcase a marvelous mixture of pantomime, singing, dancing, acrobatics, acting and various other skills, the virtuosity of which will leave mall-goers spell bound. And for an encore, The Vocal People will return for three more shows at the same timings on June 25th.
Next up, on June 11th, a unique ensemble of 12 performers will suit all tastes when they present Deck of Cards, a stage show that brings game night to life with cheerleading acts centred on hearts, spades, clubs and diamonds. Performing routines full of non-stop energy and impressive tricks in three daily 30-minute shows at 5pm, 6:30pm and 8pm, these amazing athletes are sure to get the audiences to put their hands together for them and want more.
If the DSS is about connecting with the fun side of life, then the next show at BurJuman – In Connection – features performers who connect the parts and bring together a dance performance like no other. These artists, in their one-of-a-kind costumes, work together to present a brand new stage show that kids will love – as will adults. In three 30-minute shows on June 29th at 5pm, 6:30pm and 8pm, the 10-member dance troupe will connect with the audience as they go about their finely choreographed precision movements.
The action gets faster on July 2 with incredible feats of athleticism in the WaterWorks stage show. Marvel at a group of 10 gymnasts as they take to the stage in their aquatic inspired costumes, ready to perform marvelous routines the whole family will love. Bringing the ocean above land, these skilled performers will wow audiences with a little help from some beautiful props and plenty of cheers from the crowds in their half-hour shows at 5pm, 6:30pm and 8pm.
Signposts, we know, are meant to stand in one place and point you on to wherever you want to go. But what if they started wandering all over the place? During DSS this year, six costumed signposts will wander around BurJuman on June 9th and 23rd, stopping to show off tricks and performances that will amaze audiences with their creativity. The Post roaming show takes place at 5pm, 6:30pm and 8pm.
If signposts can move around why should a wind up ballerina be stuck inside a music box? She can entertain so many more people if only she wanders about, too, even if for just a little while. And it’s even better if the ballerina is on stilts, fusing the elegance of dance with the balance of stilt-walking. In the Music Box Ballerina roaming show on June 12th and 30th, the ballerina is happy to dance her way among the crowds with elegance and grace, accompanied by her guide who is also her winder, turning the enormous key on her back whenever the ballet needs starting up. And those times when the ballerina requires starting up will be 5pm, 6:30pm and 8pm on both days.
And last, and perhaps the most anticipated by kids, Modhesh the lovable yellow mascot of fun and joy in Dubai’s summer celebration, will visit BurJuman on June 13th and 23rd, roaming around the entire mall in his car to meet and greet children and families. Accompanied by four performers and three jugglers, the icon of the DSS will be part of roaming and atage performances by his entourage in the Modhesh Meet & Greet event at 5pm, 6:30pm and 8pm on both days, truly bringing summer’s brightness to BurJuman.
With such an exciting line-up of events and activities scheduled for the summer, it’s no wonder that BurJuman will prove to be the destination of choice for tourists and families in Dubai during this year’s DSS.
