The Community Development Authority (CDA) has launched a two-week awareness campaign under the theme Without humanity there can be no humankind, from 17th - 30th September 2012; as part of its continuous efforts to stress on the importance of respecting and protecting human rights.
H.E Khaled Al Kamda, Director General of CDA said: “Creating awareness about human rights is an important pillar in the progress of nations and communities, as the good practices of human rights are part of the basic requirements guaranteed by all laws and regulations. The United Arab Emirates under its wise leadership has always promoted the concept of human rights, were individuals enjoy full rights without discrimination or differences or any other considerations, with the collaboration of different Human Rights entities”.
During the campaign, 30 mannequins have been strategically placed in key locations around Dubai dressed in Black t-shirts and holding a placard that bear the slogan of the campaign “ Without Humanity There can be no Humankind” in addition to the direct number of human rights which is 8002121.
Additionally, the CDA has an assigned complaints system that can be accessed through its website that helps facilitate the communication between Human Rights (Complaints section) and all segments of the local community.
CDA has received 59 complaints in 2010; and almost 114 complaints in 2011. Since January until the end of August 2012, CDA received 75 complaints. An expert team from the Human Rights Sector communicates with plaintiffs to verify and clarify the complaints confidentially and take all the necessary steps to resolve them.
