As part of its initiatives to reach out to the local community, DP World, UAE Region recently arranged an Iftar reception for members of the Al Barza Club for the Elderly run by the Community Development Authority in Dubai.
More than 30 members of the club attended the event, in addition to employees, and senior representatives of DP World.
The evening began with the traditional breaking of the fast, followed by a quiz session during which the audience was asked to answer general knowledge questions related to Ramadan. Prizes and gifts were distributed to the participants.
Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, DP World, UAE Region, said: “Senior citizens are the anchors of our society and the repositories of the values and traditions on which this nation is built. The Al Barza Club for the Elderly is doing a highly commendable job in caring for our seniors by providing a home away from home and complementing the role of the family. DP World, UAE Region is privileged to host this Iftar reception in their honour.”
Mariam Hamad Al Hammadi, Director of Senior Services at CDA, said: “Ramadan is a time of great importance for the Centre’s members, especially since it brings with it a message of compassion and giving. We thank DP World, UAE Region for its noble initiative in hosting this Iftar event. Our members will remember this occasion for a long time.”
Al Barza Club for the Elderly puts together a wide variety of health and social services for its members, including psychiatric care, social support, health care, physiotherapy, rehabilitation and occupational services, and training in hygiene and nutrition.
