As part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) and to promote a culture of volunteering, ENOC staff members marked Hag El Leila, the traditional Emirati festival, by visiting the Rashid Centre for Disabled to distribute sweets to the children.
The Hag El Leila celebrations were organised as part of ENOC’s TarabuT programme, which is aimed at strengthening employee engagement in CSR activities, with the active participation of ENOC Industrial Products Marketing (EIPM). More than 35 employees visited the Centre to distribute goodie bags bringing cheer and festivity to the children.
Hag El Leila is celebrated in the middle of Sha’ban, the auspicious month before the Holy Month of Ramadan, when children visit homes in their neighbourhoods, sing traditional songs and are offered sweets, nuts and gifts. The festivity is part of the Emirati heritage and much awaited by children and adults for the sense of affection and bonding it fosters.
Saeed Khoory, Chief Executive Officer of ENOC, said: “The Hag El Leila celebration by our employees is now a wonderful tradition at ENOC. It highlights our commitment to uphold Emirati heritage while also promoting community engagement by underlining the UAE’s culture of giving and sharing. We are thankful to Rashid Centre for Disabled for their support to the initiative, and we are privileged to have brought cheer to the children, who were delighted with the visit by our employees.”
ENOC’s TarabuT has promoted the active participation of the company’s employees in a number of CSR activities. As part of TarabuT, employees have raised funds for people affected by natural disasters in other countries, given free First Aid training to the public, and held community activities for children with special needs.
