The President and Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, James Hogan, this week is leading a senior delegation of airline executives at the 12th World Tourism and Travel Council (WTTC) Global Summit in Tokyo, Japan.
The WTTC Global Summit, which was opened by Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda, is being attended by approximately 1200 international and Japanese industry professionals and government leaders from around the world.
Mr Hogan said the event was a valuable opportunity to highlight the importance of travel and tourism to the global economy and to the sustainability of communities, the environment, heritage and cultures worldwide.
“I am delighted to have this opportunity to represent the capital of the United Arab Emirates and to play a role in promoting travel and tourism to one of the world’s best kept secrets, Abu Dhabi, and of course, the best way to get there – Etihad Airways.”
Mr Hogan is one of an elite group of speakers, including Taleb Rifai, Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation, attending the Tokyo event.
Today, he joined a panel of world airline CEOs for a lively discussion about the role and ever-changing nature of airlines and global aviation.
Tomorrow, he will participate in the official handover ceremony to Abu Dhabi of the hosting rights for the 13th Global Summit to be held in Abu Dhabi in April/May next year. The international event is expected to bring to the UAE capital more than 1200 delegates from foreign governments and the travel and tourism industry.
