An array of food, deliciously presented by the city’s finest restaurants, cooking demonstrations by the best chefs in the country and a host of family entertainment will be showcased at the third annual Doha Taste and Fun Festival.
“Taste and Fun”’ 2012 is bigger than ever and will see more than 70 restaurants, cafes and hotels from across the city present their “signature” dishes for the public at the festival, which will be held behind the Doha Exhibition Centre in Al Dafna February 8 to 11, 20
Arabic, Asian, Mexican, European and even “fine dining” gourmet treats will be on offer as well as entertainment, raffle prizes and a genuine festival atmosphere with a DJ every afternoon and other performers. There will be a children’s play area with games from Jungle Zone, face painting and other fun activities and festival goers will be able to vote for the “Best Food” on offer over the weekend.
And for the first time, a nation’s food will be showcased with a special “Japanese Corner”, which will mark the 40th anniversary of relations between Japan and Qatar. During the festival, the chef from the Japanese Embassy as well as a renowned chef from Tokyo will be preparing food for visitors.
All of Qatar’s top hotels as well as several high end restaurants will take part in the festival, offering their delicious gourmet cuisine to visitors for QR5, QR10 and QR15 per plate.
“The “Taste and Fun” festival has become a much anticipated community event in Doha,” Qatar Tourism Authority Chairman Ahmed Al Nuaimi said. “Where else can families sample such gourmet food for a reasonable price in a family-friendly atmosphere?.”
“It is important for the QTA to bring these events to the community. Not only will visitors enjoy great food and fun entertainment, they will have the opportunity to taste dishes from other cultures which all seek to promote cultural awareness in our amazingly diverse community. We are especially excited to be showcasing Japanese food, which illustrates the special friendships between Qatar and Japan.”
Mr Al Nuaimi said the event could not take place without the support of the hospitality industry in Doha: “Their extremely positive response in 2011 means we can bring this event to the wider community and showcase what Qatar has to offer.
“I urge people to come along, try something new, eat well and enjoy themselves.”

Wednesday February 8 from 2pm and the (official opening will be afternoon between 5pm to 7 pm).
Thursday February 9 from 12 pm to 10:30 pm.
Friday February 10 from 1 pm to 10:30 pm.
Saturday February 11 from 12pm to 10:30pm.
